MINE MAPPING

There are estimates of up to 500,000 abandoned mines within the United States, many of which pose a serious hazard for land subsidence and collapse.  Spotlight uses non-invasive geophysical methods for abandoned mine mapping applications that include:

  • Mapping the edges of room-and-pillar mines.

  • Locating shallow tunnels and drifts associated with mining activity.

  • Mapping the lateral extents of large voids associated with stope mining.

  • Locating potentially hazardous voids beneath roadways and structures.
